Wikimania 2026 - Becoming a CHATONS https://tube.picasoft.net/videos/watch/d79b7204-8b9d-49ec-8d15-bfa7ea8ea841 CHATONS (« kittens » in French) is short for Alternative, Transparent, Open, Neutral and Solidary Hosters Collective. This collective aims to federate organizations hosting decentralised, ethical and free online services. Our goal is to give our users delightful alternatives to GAFAM services while keeping their online life private. CHATONS is composed of ~100 French speaking orgs, under the banner of values cherished by Wikipedia: Neutrality, Inclusion… Those hosters participate to the Free Software and Free-culture movement by offering online services based on free software. They observe a common charter aiming notably at ensuring the confidentiality of the data they host. CHATONS hasn’t (yet) a known equivalent in other world regions. The collective is regularly approached by isolated organizations, similar to members of the collective, from non french-speaking countries. They often ask how to bootstrap a similar dynamic. We’d be glad to help those structures create another collective! @ppom@mamot.fr @vincent@toot.paris @lodart@pouet.space @vincent_peugnet@lacommu.net Tue, 03 Nov 2026 13:44:36 GMT https://validator.w3.org/feed/docs/rss2.html PeerTube - https://tube.picasoft.net Wikimania 2026 - Becoming a CHATONS https://tube.picasoft.net/client/assets/images/icons/icon-1500x1500.png https://tube.picasoft.net/videos/watch/d79b7204-8b9d-49ec-8d15-bfa7ea8ea841 All rights reserved, unless otherwise specified in the terms specified at https://tube.picasoft.net/about and potential licenses granted by each content's rightholder. <![CDATA[Wikimania 2026 - Becoming a CHATONS - ppom]]> https://tube.picasoft.net/w/sCcsSv26KRfs5VSyiiARfR;threadId=4436 https://tube.picasoft.net/w/sCcsSv26KRfs5VSyiiARfR;threadId=4436 Wed, 26 Aug 2026 15:48:22 GMT I was thrilled to do my first English-speaking panel with @vincent_peugnet, @vincent and Romain from @infini ✨️
